Dashaira Bennet

BOARD MEMBER

Dashaira Bennett is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) at Healthcare Access Maryland, located downtown Baltimore. Her current role is Program Manager for, Accountable Health Communities. Dashaira works two part-time jobs at Mercy Medical Center and Living Classrooms Foundation. She works with Baltimore residents to specifically address determinants of health and the biological impact these determinants have on sub-populations. During Dashaira’s part-time work endeavors, she provides advocacy and support for women who experience sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Also, working with high school girls to empower underserved communities by providing opportunities for growth experiences.


Dashaira has over ten years of experience in a variety of settings and with diverse clients, including long term and brief interventions. Dashaira’s career has allowed many opportunities with a range of advanced social work methods with families, individuals, and groups demonstrating mature skills in casework with even the most demanding clients and their families. Many changes happen as families grow and communities transform, Dashaira, is here to help bring life to life, with all living transitions.


Dashaira graduated from the University Of Maryland Baltimore School Of Social Work. She believes that change happens when people are given guidance; they need to draw on their strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling happy lives. Dashaira provides an environment of compassion and support to help individuals and families overcome obstacles to move forward and thrive.


Dashaira is also continuously seeking to gain more skills and broaden her education. For instance, February 2020, she completed a certification training for Mental Health First Aid USA; she is now a certified Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor. This will help more professionals and community members identify, understand, and respond to people with mental health or substance use issues. She has helped organizations launch and sustains new community-based programs. Dashaira believes if we can bring life to life, we have done the day's work.
